Sun City MacDonald Ranch Information
Sun City MacDonald Ranch is a Del Webb development in Henderson for the 55 and over community. It was the second active adult community Del Webb built in Las Vegas, and the 2,513 homes are built on 564 acres. The single family homes and villas were constructed between 1996 and 2001. It is smaller than Sun City Summerlin and Sun City Anthem and has a more intimate feeling to it.

From its 2,100 – 2,400 feet elevated position at the foot of Black Mountain Sun City Macdonald Ranch offers not only, stunning mountain views, but commands some of the best views over the lights of Las Vegas. The 2,513 homes are made up of duplexes and single family homes. Residents enjoy proximity to the peaceful Green Valley shops and cafes, and can hop on the 215 highway to reach the strip in just 15 minutes.

One of the best things about Sun City Macdonald Ranch is the golf course that it is built around. Desert Willow is an executive course with few hazards, but it is immaculately maintained, rarely gets crowded, and with twilight walks-ons open to the public for $20, including cart, it represents excellent value. The golf course was designed by Billy Casper and Greg Nash and its 3,800 yards is a par 60. In addition to the golf course the facilities include a restaurant and club house with bar, lounge , TV rooms, and card rooms. There is a hiking trail, bocce courts, tennis courts, outdoor swimming pool, and a fitness center.

Amenities Details

  • There are on site banquet facilities which are rented out for conferences, birthdays, receptions and weddings. The banquet rooms extend to the patio looking out over the Black Mountain and golf course views. Groups from 30 to 200 can be accommodated.
  • The billiards room is a spacious room, so there is no need to use a short stick because you are backed up against a wall.
  • The bocce courts are lighted in the evening so there is plenty of opportunity to play.
  • The clubhouse is more than just a golf facility as it acts as the focal point for all resident activity. The administrative offices are based in the clubhouse, as is the billiards room, as are separate rooms for sewing, ceramics, crafts, and a computer center and lounge. It has six meeting rooms and a ballroom that can be used for everything from business meetings to weddings.
  • The hiking trails are made up of High Mesa Trail, Poppywood Trail, Green Valley Ranch Loop, and City View Hiking Trail. High Mesa Trail is 2.2 miles long, Poppywood Trail is 1.5 miles, Green Valley Ranch Loop is 5 miles long, and City View Hiking Trail is the shortest at under a mile.
  • Since most homes do not have pools the pool area is very popular amongst residents and a focal point of social activities. It is used for everything from sun bathing to lap swimming and aerobics classes. Monday through Saturday the pool is open from 6am to 10pm, and on Sundays from 7am to 8pm on Sunday.
  • The tennis courts are lit for evening play when things get cooler (but not by much during the summer!) There are three courts open from 6am to 10pm Monday through Saturday and 7am to 8pm on Sundays.

Of the 2,513 homes 382 are duplexes, and the remaining 2,131 are single family homes. The HOA fees are $600 per annum, with a supplementary quarterly fee for the duplexes. One of the features that attracts potential buyers to the community is that it has over 18 floor plans to choose from.
